Afternoon on the river

Got invited for a boattrip today by BDO. Rene, ex owner of HairMax met us in Alphen aan den Rijn with his boat. Weather is great and it is good to relax out here talking about cars and boats and shit.

Choppa

Went over to Bike Hospital this evening to discuss some finishing touches.

I think we pretty much got it down but it is nothing like what I thought it would be 2 years ago when we started this project. As time passes you just seem to get more and more idea's etc.

Took the old GMC out of the garage to dust her off and take her for a spin.
Standing there in the shade it struck me that it still is a really nice ride.

Still fairly busy here at Schiphol airport on a Sunday evening... 11pm now.
Here to pick up Perry who interrupted his holiday to pay respect at Caroline's funeral tomorrow.

Went to the office early today to work on the speech for Caroline.

Mini Cooper S Clubman

Picked up the new mini yesterday. Didn't think too much of it before but after driving it I have to admit, it's a really nice car. Very complete, fast, very nicely detailed and nice gadgets.

Today also Frans was released from hospital after his triple bypass. He is recovering amazingly quick (ptl) and he will crash at our shack for the coming week atleast.

Rest In Peace Caroline "Sweet Caroline" Finizio.

Picture taken in August 2007, exactly 1 year ago. Caroline was always available to entertain our foreign guests.

Today at 1pm Caroline had to give up her battle.

I'm at a loss for words. Unfair, angry, why, sad, empty, unreal, unimaginable ...

Never have I seen a person who was more positive about everything. She had a drive that never ended and she knew no evil.

She has tought me and I learned from her about positive attitude.

It is sad that she did not get the break that she so deserved.

It is sad that she left behind a husband, an 8 year old son and her mother.

It is sad that she only lived to be 37.

God must have had a darn good reason to call her back.

I was priveledged to have known her and work with her.

Ciao Carolina, sweet Caroline.

Baja evening

Had some fun this evening with the bajas. Erwin and me found the gate open at a local auction place which has a huge parking lot.

Cost us a set of tires each, almost ended up in the pond, drove through fire and burned the asfalt (left our mark) and I noted that my new DarkSoul front bumper has already paid off.

Thank God for DarkSoul Racing.

By chance I installed the lights yesterday which worked great!

Tracktor Pulling

Yearly event here, the Trekkertrek... My 3year old son Jesse loves tracktors!

Basically a bunch of farmers losing control and having fun. (Also a nice place to spend the day with the kids...)

Project Chopper

Last week I went with Marcel from Bikehospital to the RDW. (local DMV)

The bike got approved after some hustling and tomorrow I will take it to the customs and pay for the BPM (luxery tax which only this shit country has).

The bike should be good to go early September.

Oh,... in the picture it doesn't remotely look like what it will be in the end.

Frans is back home

Been busy with Frans since his "almost heart attack" last week.
All is well after all and it looks like we can go to spain after cancelling the flight yesterday.
It's a really long story but in short; we have the most expensive tickets ever, thanks to no mercy policy from transavia, and Frans has more pills than we can count.

Dynamic train

Off to Shanghai by "dynamic"train this time. It's called dynamic because every seperat carriage has its own engine.
The last time I travelled by train in China (or any country for that matter) Must have been 15 years ago.
At that time we'd be happy to have a hard seat between the folks who'd bring chickens and piglets, offering you tea from a dirty recycled jar and hardboiled 100year old eggs.
